The Alien
Thanks to my friend Sofía that gave the opportunity to make the sound design for this piece. It is such a blast to work with your friends and such story telling talent.
As you well know, I love Sci-Fi so besides Sofia being my friend, I had to say yes. I recall when Sofia invited me to hop in and I was on a class about Doors Sound Design, I thought, well we’ve been doing sound for real doors, what about non-real door? Like we don’t have those kind of doors in real life, so, how does it sound? Well, my go-to way of thinking always lays on the satisfaction the sound may evoke on you, so I tried to design a very pleasant opening sci fi door, something very top notch design cause if you are stashing aliens on those big glass containers you must have a cutting edge technology in your facility, right? Also, one of the things that VFS taught me was: if it moves, it makes a sound, unless the director does not want to. In this case, there are camera shakes, as if you were in first person perspective, So I had to do it, I had to toss footsteps and breathing sounds in there that enhances that sensation you are in there.
